The
Nova Scotia Tree Fruit Research Foundation
The Nova Scotia
Tree Fruit Research Foundation was established in 1988 by
the Nova Scotia Fruit Growers' Association to promote research
in the tree fruit industry. The Association felt that the
tree fruit industry should be more involved in research
initiatives and should provide direction for research.
The Research
Foundation has recently sponsored a number of research projects
co-funded by the Apple Industry Development Fund (AIDF).
All activities undertaken by the Foundation are for the
benefit of the tree fruit industry.
Results of all
the work done through the Research Foundation are communicated
to growers via orchard tours, meetings, newsletters and
the NSFGA Annual Convention and Report. Research results
are available to all tree fruit growers. The Board of Directors
of the Research Foundation consists of four growers (members
of the NSFGA), three government personnel and one Agriculture
Development Institute (ADI) representative.
